Prof. Dr. Bülent Urman was born in Ankara, Türkiye, in 1959. He graduated from TED Ankara College in 1976 and received his medical degree from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1982. He completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1984.
Between 1989 and 1991, he undertook advanced fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada. After returning to Türkiye in 1991, he successfully completed the national board examination in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
He began his academic career at Hacettepe University, where he was appointed Assistant Professor in 1993 and promoted to Associate Professor in 1995. In 1996, he left the university to join Istanbul American Hospital, where he has since been serving as the Head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Assisted Reproductive Technologies.
Between 1989 and 1991, she received advanced training (fellowship) in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She returned to Türkiye in 1991 and successfully passed the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialisation exam.
He began his academic career as a specialist at Hacettepe University, becoming an Assistant Professor in 1993 and an Associate Professor in 1995. He left the university in 1996 and became the Head of the Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Assisted Reproductive Technology at the Istanbul American Hospital, a position he continues to hold.
In 2011, he was appointed faculty member and department head at Koç University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and received the title of Professor the same year. He served as Department Head between 2013 and 2019.
Her clinical interests focus on endoscopic surgery, in vitro fertilization and assisted reproductive technologies, endometriosis and reproductive endocrinology.
Between 1989 and 2020, Prof. Dr. Urman authored 203 international publications indexed in PubMed, along with numerous national publications, and contributed to more than 400 congress presentations. He has participated as an invited speaker in over 500 national and international congresses, symposia, and scientific meetings. He has played an active educational role in many courses organized by TSRM and MIJID.
In 2018, with an h-index of 57, he was named among the “100 Turks Shaping Medical Science”, one of only three specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology included on the list.

In his spare time, Prof. Dr. Urman enjoys sports, listening to music, photography, driving, scientific and artistic reading, and writing. He is married and has two children.
